Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis has officially stepped away from the in-game leader position, giving full control back to Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo on Cache, Anubis, and Ancient.
Speaking with James "BanKs" Banks following FURIA's victory over MIBR at StarSeries Fall, the Latvian rifler made his position clear. The team had been experimenting with him calling terrorist sides on those three maps, partially as preparation for FalleN's planned retirement at year's end.
However, YEKINDAR found the experience overwhelming. He described the stress levels as producing too much cortisol and firmly stated his preference to remain a role player rather than transition into leadership at this stage of his career.
The player explained that after testing the waters, he reached a definitive conclusion about what he wanted. He approached FalleN directly, asking him to reclaim the calling responsibilities, and the Brazilian legend readily agreed without hesitation.
When pressed about whether he's completely removed from calling, YEKINDAR clarified that while FalleN handles the heavy lifting during critical moments and develops overall strategies, he still contributes through micro-adjustments and helping execute ideas. Occasionally, if he feels the moment, he might make a call, but the primary burden rests with FalleN.
The decision allows YEKINDAR to focus on his individual performance while FalleN continues steering the team strategically.
