Jake "Stewie2K" Yip's Without a Roof roster pulled off a major upset in the NSTLGA Season 2 playoffs, defeating Marsborne decisively with a 2-0 sweep to move forward in the upper bracket of the ten-thousand-dollar competition. The veteran squad showcased extended periods of control throughout both maps, claiming Ancient 13-9 and Inferno 13-6.
The opening map saw Without a Roof grabbing the pistol round on their T-side plus the subsequent round, but Marsborne fought back with four consecutive rounds by winning three retake scenarios. The teams traded rounds through the remainder of the first half, leaving Marsborne ahead 7-5 at the break. The second half belonged to Without a Roof after they equalized by taking their CT pistol and the following round. Following Marsborne's round 15 victory, WaR unleashed a powerful defensive display, capturing six of the next seven rounds while limiting their opponents to just two bomb plants.
Inferno began with Marsborne jumping out to a 4-0 advantage on their T-side before momentum swung dramatically. Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte led the turnaround with eleven eliminations as Without a Roof stormed back to win seven of the final eight rounds in the half, taking a 7-5 lead into their attacking side. The second half was complete domination from WaR, who rattled off five straight rounds to build a commanding 12-5 advantage, leaving Marsborne struggling to respond. Though Marsborne finally answered in round eighteen, it proved meaningless as Without a Roof closed out the map 13-6 in the following round.
Timothy "autimatic" Ta, Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov, and Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte all posted impressive 1.31 ratings or better across the series. Without a Roof now advance to the Upper Bracket Semifinals where they await the winner of tonight's LAG versus regain matchup scheduled for 9:00 PM.
