Wildcard's BLAST Bounty run ends with defeat against The MongolZ

July 26, 20262 min read

Wildcard's campaign at BLAST Bounty Season 2 came to an unexpected halt after they were eliminated by The MongolZ in the round of sixteen. Following their impressive victory over Alliance in the opening round, the North American squad selected The MongolZ as their opponents, hoping to exploit the fact that the Asian team had recently integrated two new roster members.

The opening map was Dust2, Wildcard's selection. The Americans seized the pistol round and initially traded rounds evenly with their opponents. However, The MongolZ edged ahead to claim a 7-5 lead at halftime. Wildcard responded strongly by winning the second pistol to level the score, but The MongolZ found their rhythm and closed out the map with a convincing 13-7 scoreline.

Inferno, chosen by The MongolZ, saw the Asian squad start aggressively with pistol round victories and successful conversions. The remainder of the first half proved competitive, ending deadlocked at 6-6. The MongolZ again claimed the second half pistol and conversions, but Wildcard fought back with three consecutive rounds to tie things up at 9-9. Unfortunately for the NA representatives, The MongolZ demonstrated superior execution in crucial moments, securing the map 13-9.

This defeat means Wildcard finished one round away from reaching the LAN Finals. The team will now turn their attention to the Esports World Cup in Paris, scheduled to begin on August 12th.
