Vitality have clinched the second playoff berth at ESL Pro League Season 24 following a dramatic comeback victory against Falcons, winning 2-1 with map scores of 9-13 on Anubis, 13-4 on Dust2, and 13-8 on Mirage.
This marked the teams' first encounter since their quarter-final clash at the IEM Cologne Major, where Falcons triumphed on their path to capturing their maiden Major championship. Speaking to broadcasters post-match, Dan apEX Madesclaire emphasized how deeply that particular defeat affected the team, noting it carried more weight than their other recent losses.
The victory ended Vitality's five-match losing streak against Falcons, their previous series win coming at the ESL Pro League Season 22 final approximately twelve months prior.
Vitality faced an uphill battle after struggling in opening engagements on Anubis. Ilya m0NESY Osipov delivered an exceptional performance with a 10-1 opening duel record and 1.87 rating, propelling his team to victory despite Vitality narrowing the deficit with a pistol round triumph.
Falcons momentum stalled completely thereafter. Shahar flameZ Shushan posted a dominant 2.10 rating on Dust2 for Vitality, while Maksim kyousuke Lukin endured two difficult maps. Combined with stellar leadership and fragging from apEX, Vitality dominated 13-4.
The decisive Mirage map saw kyousuke begin finding form, but his resurgence came too late against Vitality's momentum. Robin ropz Kool and William mezii Merriman anchored an impenetrable defense, denying Falcons site entries consistently. Though Falcons tightened the scoreline after winning the pistol, Vitality maintained composure to seal the series.
