Team Vitality have clinched the last available playoff spot at BLAST Open Porto following a decisive 2-0 triumph against FUT in the Group B lower bracket, taking maps 13-7 on Anubis and 13-8 on Dust2.
The victory caps off an impressive recovery for Vitality, who started the tournament on shaky ground. Playing with stand-in Justinas "jL" Lekavicius, they suffered an opening 0-2 defeat to Inner Circle, dropping them into the lower bracket. However, the squad found their rhythm, defeating 9z, Legacy, and finally FUT to punch their ticket to playoffs, displaying improved coordination with each successive match.
FUT entered the tournament straight from their finals appearance at the Esports World Cup, and the compressed schedule appeared to take its toll. Their overly aggressive approach was repeatedly exploited by Vitality's disciplined setup.
On Anubis, Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov opened with a highlight triple kill that gave FUT early momentum. Combined with clutch performances from Dmytro "dem0n" Myroshnychenko and Džiugas "dziugss" Steponavičius in a 3v5 situation, FUT grabbed a 4-2 advantage. But Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut flipped the script with a critical 1v3 eco clutch, shifting momentum entirely. Vitality leveled the score by halftime and dominated the second half, with jL, ZywOo, and Dan "apEX" Madesclaire all contributing multi-kills en route to the 13-7 finish.
Dust2 proved even more lopsided. apEX continued delivering crucial frags while Vitality capitalized on FUT's overaggressive peeks. ZywOo completely shut down cmtry as Vitality built a commanding 9-3 halftime lead. Though FUT mounted a brief comeback after winning the pistol round and stringing together four rounds, consecutive B-site defenses from Robin "ropz" Kool and ZywOo sealed the deal for Vitality.
