Vitality have booked their place in the StarLadder StarSeries Fall grand final after dispatching FURIA with a decisive 2-0 scoreline, claiming victories on Cache (13-5) and Anubis (13-8).
The match featured an interesting tactical wrinkle during the veto phase. FURIA broke from their standard approach by leaving Anubis available, instead using their opening ban to remove Dust2 from the equation. Vitality quickly capitalized on this opportunity, selecting Anubis as their punishment pick.
Speaking to James "BanKs" Banks following the match, Sid "sidde" Macedo explained the reasoning: "We wanted to experiment playing a different map pool against them. We figured we might maybe throw Anubis in there, we expected them to pick it, and it was a map we felt comfortable playing against them. In the end we couldn't win it, but the idea was playing something other than Dust2 against them."
Cache opened the series but quickly turned sour for FURIA. While Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis found early entries and FURIA showed promise identifying the correct bomb sites, Vitality's firepower proved overwhelming. Robin "ropz" Kool delivered crucial multi-kills defending the B site, including one with a Five-Seven, while Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut locked down A with his AWP. FURIA's only bright spot came from Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's 1v2 clutch in the half's final round.
The CT side offered little respite for FURIA, managing just a single round from a YEKINDAR multi-frag before Shahar "flameZ" Shushan crushed their hopes with a devastating 1v2 clutch to seal the map.
Anubis followed a similar pattern. After Dan "apEX" Madesclaire clutched against an eco buy to break FURIA's 2-0 start, Vitality surged to an 8-4 halftime advantage. FURIA showed signs of life in the second half, finally winning a force-buy before FalleN's quadruple kill through A main gave them momentum. However, Vitality's elite talent, particularly ZywOo's outstanding performance, ensured a comfortable series victory.
Vitality now face Aurora in a best-of-five grand final scheduled for later today.
