Team Vitality has made it official: Justinas "jL" Lekavicius will step in as a substitute for two consecutive tournaments. The Lithuanian player will fill roster spots at BLAST Open Porto and PGL Masters Bucharest while regular members take time off for family reasons.
The organization confirmed that William "mezii" Merriman and Dan "apEX" Madesclaire will both be absent due to paternity leave during these events. While Vitality's official statement didn't specify which player misses which tournament, previous reporting by Sebastien "KRL" Perez suggested mezii sits out Porto while apEX skips Bucharest.
This roster shuffle comes during a challenging stretch for the French powerhouse. Despite dominating early in the year with five consecutive tournament victories, Vitality has stumbled recently, failing to reach a top-four placement in their last three competitions.
For jL, this represents another chance to showcase his abilities on the big stage. After parting ways with Natus Vincere last July, the experienced rifler has been seeking opportunities, having already filled in for MOUZ earlier this season. These upcoming appearances could prove crucial for his career prospects.
According to earlier reports, Vitality's lineups would feature apEX alongside ropz, ZywOo, flameZ, and jL in Porto, while mezii would return to join the same core quartet in Bucharest, with jL maintaining his substitute role throughout both tournaments.
