Team Liquid has revealed that Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak will be returning to their active roster for BLAST Bounty Season 2, citing "tournament sign-up guidelines" as the reason for this unexpected change.
This decision means that Liquid will have to postpone the debut of their newly acquired AWPer, Georgi "Jorko" Mitev, who recently joined the team to replace ultimate in the sniper role.
Liquid later provided clarification on the matter, explaining that the move was made "in accordance with BLAST's roster eligibility requirements for Wildcard invitations." These regulations stipulate that teams must field at least three players from a roster that held a top 12 position in the Valve Regional Standings.
The last Liquid lineup to meet this criterion achieved that ranking in December 2025. That squad consisted of Guy "NertZ" Iluz, Keith "NAF" Markovic, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek, and Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak.
The timing is far from ideal for Liquid, who were hoping to start fresh after a challenging first half of the year that nearly cost them their spot at the IEM Cologne Major.
Adding to the roster uncertainty, reports from Dust2.us indicate that Johnny "JT" Theodosiou may be joining the squad to take over the in-game leader position from siuhy before the new season begins. ultimate's return for this event serves as further evidence supporting these reported changes to the team's leadership structure.
