The MongolZ have confirmed that their coach Erdenedalai "maaRaa" Bayanbat will be absent from the team's upcoming appearances at BLAST Bounty Finals and Esports World Cup. The organization announced that the 36-year-old will provide remote support to the squad during these tournaments.
This marks another challenging period for the team, as maaRaa previously missed Pro League playoffs and BLAST Open Rotterdam earlier in the year. On both occasions, The MongolZ were eliminated in the quarter-finals stage.
The absence comes at a particularly difficult time for the squad. They recently secured their spot in the Bounty playoffs with an impressive debut performance featuring Zolbayar "tikuak" Chimedtseren and Dugarsuren "DarkMeister" Ireedui.
The situation is especially concerning given The MongolZ's ambitions to defend their Esports World Cup title from 2025. Losing maaRaa's presence makes this already challenging goal even tougher. His coaching expertise earned him recognition as the second-best coach of last year according to peer voting, highlighting just how significant his absence will be for the team's chances at both events.
