The MongolZ have punched their ticket to the Esports World Cup playoffs after defeating paiN 2-0 in the Group D lower semi-finals, ending the Brazilian team's tournament run at the group stage.
The opening map on Nuke delivered tight competition with both teams trading rounds throughout. Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt landed a crucial triple kill outside that secured a force-buy round for paiN and damaged their opponent's economy. However, Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren responded with his own triple kill as The MongolZ closed the first half 7-5.
Despite paiN's resilience, bLitz continued his hot streak with another triple kill following a 180-degree spin that pushed his team to match point. The MongolZ sealed the map 13-10, maintaining a three-round cushion.
Inferno showcased contrasting styles, with The MongolZ relying on coordinated teamwork while paiN depended heavily on individual brilliance. biguzera opened with an ace on the first eco-round, giving Brazil an early advantage. That lead evaporated quickly as The MongolZ found their rhythm on their map selection.
Sodbayar "Techno" Munkhbold delivered the series' third ace during an anti-eco round, propelling his team to an 8-4 halftime lead. Despite biguzera's highlight-reel moments, his efforts couldn't save paiN from elimination.
After winning all four pistol rounds in the series, The MongolZ dominated Inferno's CT side with five consecutive defensive victories, closing out the map 13-4 and securing their playoff advancement.
