SportsBetExpert have punched their ticket to the ESEA Season 58 Finals following a convincing 2-0 sweep of LAG in the upper bracket semifinal. The victory serves as sweet revenge after LAG previously defeated them at FRAG Midwest: St. Louis.
The series kicked off on SportsBetExpert's map selection, Mirage, where they immediately demonstrated why they chose this battleground. After claiming the opening pistol round and the subsequent anti-eco, SportsBetExpert faced a brief challenge as LAG rattled off four consecutive rounds. However, SportsBetExpert quickly regained control with a six-round streak of their own, closing out the first half with an 8-4 advantage. Despite Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore's impressive 111.2 ADR performance and a second pistol victory for LAG, SportsBetExpert maintained their composure to seal Mirage 13-8.
LAG's Dust2 pick failed to produce the momentum shift they desperately needed. Unlike SportsBetExpert's strong start on Mirage, LAG struggled out of the gate, dropping four straight rounds before finally securing one. They then lost another four-round sequence, limping into halftime down 10-2. The second half showed slightly more resistance from LAG, who managed to chain together four rounds, but SportsBetExpert closed out the map 13-7 to complete the sweep.
With this qualification, SportsBetExpert will compete in the finals beginning September 25th alongside Marsborne. The remaining two finals spots will be determined through lower bracket matches featuring desi boyz versus Overtake Sector and LAG against Olympus.
