Revamped Liquid shock Vitality in opening match with new roster

July 24, 20262 min read

Team Liquid kicked off their BLAST Bounty Season 2 run with an impressive 2-0 sweep over Vitality, taking Anubis 13-10 and Nuke 13-9 in their first official match with new additions Johnny "JT" Theodosiou and Georgi "Jorko" Mitev.

The Bulgarian AWPer Jorko expressed his disbelief after the match, stating he was still shocked by the result. This revitalized Liquid squad, which underwent significant roster changes over the summer by removing Polish players Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak and Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek, appeared completely transformed compared to their recent performances.

On Anubis, Liquid executed their CT side brilliantly with aggressive plays across the board, securing six rounds before switching sides. Despite failing to win either pistol round, they maintained control to close out 13-10. JT led the charge with a 1.27 rating on the map, showcasing both his tactical leadership and individual skill.

Nuke proved equally dominant for the American squad. Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski delivered a masterclass performance with multiple clutches and multi-kills, finishing with a 2.01 rating. His form mirrored his 2024 season under JT's leadership at Complexity, where he earned the 19th spot in HLTV's year-end rankings. Jorko also impressed throughout the series, finishing second overall with a 1.24 rating.

For Vitality, this defeat continues their troubling Bounty tournament record. The European powerhouse, ranked significantly higher than 45th-ranked Liquid entering the match, failed to qualify for the Malta LAN finals. This loss also snapped their remarkable 24-event playoff streak dating back to January 2025 when Robin "ropz" Kool joined the roster.
