The Norwegian veteran, who initially joined the organization to lead their European roster, has now returned to his traditional playing role following the addition of Jack "Gizmy" von Spreckelsen during the offseason.
The transition began with a mid-season conversation with teammate Lukas "gla1ve," who questioned whether leading was truly what rain wanted. After reflecting on the situation, the veteran realized he could return to what he genuinely enjoys: playing his preferred roles without the burden of shot-calling.
When asked about what he felt he was missing as a captain, rain pointed to his personality. The team wanted someone more intense and fiery in the leadership position, whereas rain describes himself as exceptionally laid back and calm. He admitted that when teammates made mistakes, his response would typically be reassuring rather than critical, suggesting his temperament might be too relaxed for the demands of in-game leadership.
In contrast, rain describes Gizmy as a perfectionist who isn't afraid to call out errors, even something as specific as a misplaced grenade. The new leader brings a straightforward approach and an intense hunger for victory, demanding excellence in every aspect of gameplay.
Despite the role change happening relatively recently, rain expressed confidence about the team's direction. He revealed they've been conducting three to four-hour theory sessions daily to integrate Gizmy's systems, though he acknowledges they haven't reached their peak potential yet. The veteran believes the coming months will be crucial for their development.
Regarding their performance at the Esports World Cup qualifiers, where they survived three consecutive series including a close call against BC.Game, rain appeared satisfied with how the squad handled pressure and adapted to their new leader's calls.
