After securing the rights to host the second Counter-Strike Major of 2027, Perfect World has officially revealed that Shanghai will once again serve as the host city. This marks a return to the location that previously welcomed a Major in late 2024, where enthusiastic crowds packed the venue throughout both the playoffs and group stage matches.
The tournament will follow the established Major format that has been standard since 2025, featuring 32 competing teams across three Swiss system stages before narrowing down to an eight-team playoff bracket. Scheduled to run from November 22nd through December 12th, the competition will offer a prize pool of $1.25 million.
Reports from HLTV earlier this year had already hinted at Shanghai's selection as the venue for 2027's second Major. The same report also covered details about the year's first Major, set to take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
This upcoming event represents the third Counter-Strike 2 Major to be held in Asia, following Shanghai 2024 and the scheduled PGL Singapore 2026. The shift to Asian venues marks a significant change from the pre-CS2 era, when Major tournaments were exclusively held in Europe and the United States. Perfect World has yet to announce specific details regarding the venue, though expectations remain high following the success of their previous Shanghai event.
