The StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 Closed Qualifier kicked off with three opening-round matchups that saw the favorites advance without major trouble.
NRG took down Iowa Stormboar in a 2-0 series that started with a nail-biter on Nuke. Iowa's map selection nearly paid off as they leveled the score after halftime, forcing overtime with matching 7-5 halves. NRG snatched the first two OT rounds on the terrorist side and held on for a 16-13 victory. The second map, Inferno, proved far more comfortable for NRG. They dominated with a 9-3 lead at the break and cruised to a 13-6 finish. Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek delivered an exceptional performance, topping all players with 44 eliminations and a stellar 1.50 rating.
Marsborne faced LAG in another closely contested opener. LAG looked promising on their Mirage pick, establishing an 8-4 lead that grew to 10-4. But Marsborne flipped the script with a devastating terrorist-side comeback, limiting LAG to just one more round and stealing the map 13-11. Ancient went more smoothly for Marsborne, who jumped out to a 9-3 advantage and closed out the map 13-5. Chance "WUMBO" Boyer and Adam "freshie" Paterson spearheaded the attack with 1.58 and 1.40 ratings respectively, both exceeding 30 kills.
Voca dispatched regain with relative ease across two maps. Despite regain choosing Mirage, Voca seized control early at 7-2. Although regain clawed back three consecutive rounds before halftime, Voca's terrorist side proved unstoppable as they closed out 13-5. Dust2 followed a similar pattern, with Voca racing to a 9-3 lead and never looking back, finishing 13-4. Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly and Wyatt "snav" Phillippi led the charge with 36 and 35 frags respectively.
The qualifier continues with Chicken Coop facing SportsBetExpert in the final first-round clash, while Iowa Stormboar and LAG will battle in the lower bracket.
