Ninjas in Pyjamas has officially announced the suspension of its Young Ninjas academy initiative, releasing the entire roster and staff from their contracts.
The organization described the move as a challenging but necessary step while they reassess their approach to competitive development. The Swedish esports giant emphasized that this decision wasn't made lightly but represents what they believe is the correct course of action moving forward.
The closure affects four individuals who last competed under the NiP banner during European Pro League Series 7 back in June. Among those now seeking new opportunities are three players and one coach who dedicated themselves to the academy project.
Despite this closure, the Young Ninjas program leaves behind an impressive legacy as one of the most effective academy systems in competitive Counter-Strike. The project successfully developed numerous talents who went on to compete at the highest level, including several players who made the jump to top-tier organizations. The academy also served as a proving ground for emerging talent, with one former member currently enjoying a temporary stint with the main NiP squad.
The released individuals are now exploring opportunities with other organizations as free agents, bringing with them the experience gained from one of Counter-Strike's most respected academy programs.
