Filip "NEO" Kubski is set to make his first LAN appearance as Astralis head coach, having joined the Danish organization just two weeks ago. His previous role with FaZe, which lasted nearly three years and marked his initial coaching position, concluded in March.
Reflecting on his FaZe departure, the Polish veteran acknowledged the organization's perspective. When teams require changes, replacing the coach typically ranks among the initial steps management considers. He views this as part of competitive Counter-Strike's nature, holding no resentment while taking away important lessons from the experience.
NEO brings his FaZe learnings to Astralis, where he collaborates with Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen. The Danish in-game leader employs a different methodology compared to Finn "karrigan" Andersen, presenting new learning opportunities for the coach. His primary objective centers on helping Astralis unlock their full capabilities.
Joining an established roster presents familiar challenges. The team has developed their own playing style over time, requiring NEO to undergo a learning process similar to his FaZe experience. While the initial journey hasn't been flawless, he sees clear room for enhancement and recognizes the squad's potential. Significant work lies ahead to transform that potential into consistent results.
The transition from working exclusively with karrigan to collaborating with HooXi represents a major shift. Throughout his coaching career, NEO had only partnered with one in-game leader before, making this partnership a valuable opportunity to expand his tactical understanding and adapt his coaching approach to different leadership styles.
Regarding early results, NEO noted the mixed outcomes during online competition. A strong Bounty run and LAN qualification contrasted with disappointing StarSeries qualifier results. He considers these growing pains natural while implementing his vision, expecting to gain deeper insights during offline competition where team dynamics differ significantly from online matches.
