MOUZ secured their tournament survival at StarLadder StarSeries Fall with a remarkable comeback win against Natus Vincere, sending the latter home in last position from the $500,000 competition.
The Ukrainian squad struggled with sluggish openings across every map in the series. Despite managing to bounce back on Cache and mount a competitive challenge on Inferno, they couldn't prevent their elimination.
This defeat cost NAVI over 70 Valve ranking points, intensifying the stakes for their remaining two tournaments before the Major qualification deadline: ESL Pro League 24 and PGL Masters Bucharest. The team has now fallen below 15th place in the VRS standings.
"Adding more pressure is nearly impossible at this point," team captain Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen admitted in the post-match interview. "We're fully aware of our current standing and performance level. Frankly, if we continue playing like this, we don't even deserve a Major spot. We desperately need to elevate our game and discover what can jumpstart our momentum."
NAVI surprised observers by selecting Cache, their debut on the refreshed map since its return to the active pool, potentially targeting MOUZ's weakness after their previous day's defeat to NRG.
Though NAVI faced a 9-3 halftime deficit on their attacking side, they completely flipped the script after switching, dominating with an 11-1 run. MOUZ managed merely one opening elimination and fourteen total kills during this devastating stretch.
On Inferno, MOUZ stormed ahead 7-0 before NAVI stabilized with four consecutive rounds. The second half saw momentum swing toward NAVI, but they faltered at the finish line as MOUZ's defensive resilience forced a third map.
Mirage proved decisive as MOUZ raced to a 10-2 advantage. NAVI's attempted resurgence was crushed by MOUZ's overwhelming A-site execution in round 21, sealing the series.
