According to Gabe Follower, the massive leak wasn't the result of a hacking incident. Among the most intriguing revelations are early Counter-Strike: Global Offensive builds that few have ever laid eyes on. Gabe Follower shared what he identified as one of the most primitive CS:GO screenshots, displaying what appeared to be a heavily modified Counter-Strike: Source version.
The leaked materials included fascinating artifacts like an interface design that bore striking similarities to classic Halo menu screens, as noted by X user SlippiSRC. This particular build featured XBOX console compatibility options. While Valve did eventually launch CS:GO on consoles, they discontinued support for those versions almost immediately following release.
SlippiSRC continued sharing discoveries from the leak, posting additional screenshots that revealed unreleased map designs intended for Arms Race and Demolition game modes. The treasure trove of development materials also contained unused character models and experimental gameplay modes, including one bearing resemblance to Team Fortress's Payload mode.
