Marsborne have officially confirmed the signing of rifler Nicholas "nicx" Lee from Passion UA, following earlier reports that a deal was imminent. The move sees nicx take over the spot previously held by Mark "marekiew" Petrov, who transitions to the bench after just three months with the organization.
The acquisition marks nicx's return to the North American domestic scene after spending the past year and a half competing both domestically and internationally with Complexity and Passion UA. He was among the last remaining players from Passion UA's roster without a confirmed destination following the team's recent changes.
Marekiew's tenure with Marsborne proved challenging, as the player posted a 0.91 rating across 40 maps during his three-month stint. He particularly struggled in matches against top North American squads including M80, Voca, and his former team Passion UA.
General manager and head coach Hunter "Lucid" Tucker addressed the roster move, expressing satisfaction with the nicx pickup while acknowledging marekiew's contributions. Tucker emphasized that nicx brings both youth and significantly more professional experience to their rebuilding project, including two Major appearances and multiple top-tier tournament participations.
The signing reunites nicx with former LAG teammate Bogdan "ogwizard" Savula, with whom he played for seven months in 2024. The revamped Marsborne roster is expected to make its debut at tomorrow's BLAST Open Porto NA Open Qualifier, with an official announcement anticipated in the coming days.
The current active lineup features Grizz, ogwizard, freshie, WUMBO, and nicx under Tucker's coaching.
