M80 have confirmed the appointment of Romanian Luca "Munstur" Ioanițiu as their new assistant coach, making the announcement less than 24 hours ahead of their Esports World Cup opening fixture. The promotion follows his successful stint as an analyst during the IEM Cologne Major, where team members Michael "Swisher" Schmid and Josh "JBa" Barutt publicly commended his work in match preparation.
Celebrating the news, Munstur stated: "Cat's finally out of the NA bag... Been with the guys for a while, all I can say is let's send it, EWC ready!"
This marks another chapter in Munstur's North American coaching journey. The Romanian previously built his reputation spending over a year analyzing for GamerLegion, including their impressive run to the BLAST Paris Major finals. His coaching career began with FlyQuest RED, where he remained for more than a year, before spending another year with Passion UA working under Tiaan "T.c" Coertzen.
For M80, this represents a significant structural enhancement. Despite being a leading force in North American Counter-Strike for approximately three years, the organization has rarely employed dedicated tactical support beyond their head coach. The only previous exception was Bobby "stamina" Eitrem's brief four-month tenure in early 2024.
With multiple tier-one tournaments on the horizon, the additional analytical expertise could prove crucial for M80's established two-year core as they seek continued improvement. The squad will face G2 in their Esports World Cup opener tomorrow at 08:00 AM.
