M80 knock out Legacy from ESL Pro League despite captain's absence

M80 have secured their place in ESL Pro League Season 24 by eliminating Legacy in a decisive best-of-three matchup. The North American squad claimed victories on Cache (13-4) and Dust2 (13-7), while dropping Mirage (9-13) to the Brazilian opposition.

Both teams had already qualified for the upcoming Major in Singapore, making this elimination less impactful on their long-term prospects. However, Legacy faced significant challenges in Katowice as their captain and in-game leader Andrei "arT" Piovezan was sidelined due to illness.

Stepping in for arT was team analyst Pedro "bobz" Rocha, who faced considerable difficulty matching the level of competition. The stand-in managed only a 0.68 rating across ten maps throughout the tournament. His struggles were particularly evident on Cache, where he posted a dismal 0.27 rating as M80 dominated behind Elias "s1n" Stein's exceptional 2.30-rated performance.

Despite building a commanding 7-2 lead on Mirage, M80 couldn't close out the series quickly. Legacy mounted an impressive comeback, with bobz contributing a 1.52 CT-side rating. Bruno "latto" Rebelatto and Santino "try" Rigal delivered outstanding performances with 2.20 and 1.84 ratings respectively, limiting M80 to just two rounds in the second half and forcing a third map.

On the decisive Dust2, M80 regained control and didn't falter. Another strong showing from s1n kept the series from slipping away. While latto produced some highlight plays and M80 had some sloppy moments, the North American side ultimately closed out the match 13-7 to advance.
