Luminosity have secured a spot in the upper bracket final of Roman Imperium Cup VIII after defeating SAW in a thrilling 2-1 series comeback. The victory marks a significant turnaround for the European roster, who arrived at the event winless in their CS2 campaign.
Prior to this tournament, Luminosity were sitting at an 0-5 record. Their first breakthrough came against LargadosyPelados earlier in the competition, setting the stage for this impressive upset over SAW.
The series began on SAW's map pick, Inferno, where Luminosity controlled the first half with an 8-4 defensive advantage. However, SAW mounted a strong comeback on their defensive side, flipping the script to close out the map 13-11 and take the series lead.
Dust2 told a completely different story. Luminosity dominated proceedings with exceptional coordination, racing to a commanding 10-2 lead by halftime. They maintained their momentum throughout the second half, cruising to a decisive 13-2 victory to force a third map.
The decider on Nuke saw Luminosity edge ahead 7-5 after their T-side, then lock down their defensive half. SAW struggled to find any rhythm on attack, failing to win a single round on that side as they fell 13-5. Aleks "Rainwaker" Petrov delivered a match-winning performance with 26 kills against 12 deaths on the final map.
Luminosity will now face M80 in the upper bracket final tomorrow at 06:00 AM, while SAW drop to the lower bracket to continue their tournament run.
