The Canadian organization Luminosity have finally broken through in Counter-Strike 2, claiming their maiden series victory two months after making their return to the competitive scene. The team defeated Brazilian opponents LargadosyPelados in a hard-fought 2-1 series at Roman Imperium Cup VIII.
This result ends a brutal five-match losing streak that saw Luminosity exit both XSE Pro League 2026 and Esports World Cup 2026 without registering a single series win.
The series opened poorly for Luminosity as they dropped Ancient 13-10, conceding their opponents' map selection despite mounting a strong comeback attempt on their terrorist side in the latter half of the match.
However, the tide turned dramatically on Dust2, Luminosity's map choice. Aurélien "afro" Drapier spearheaded a dominant performance, with the French rifler racking up eight frags and contributing a massive +15.64% round swing as his squad stormed to a 10-2 lead on their T-side. The CT-side was equally ruthless, with Luminosity winning the opening three rounds to close out the map 13-2.
The decider on Nuke saw LargadosyPelados grab an early 3-0 advantage before Luminosity responded emphatically, stringing together nine consecutive rounds to establish a commanding 9-3 halftime lead. Although the Brazilian side fought back with four rounds on their defensive half, Luminosity regained control and secured four straight rounds to seal the map 13-7.
Luminosity will look to build momentum as they continue their Roman Imperium Cup VIII run tomorrow against SAW at 09:30 AM.
