Liquid sign 17-year-old Bulgarian AWPer Jorko to replace ultimate

July 10, 20262 min read

Team Liquid have completed the signing of 17-year-old Bulgarian AWPer Georgi 'Jorko' Mitev from FOKUS, following the decision to bench Roland 'ultimate' Tomkowiak earlier in the day. The transfer fee remains undisclosed.

ultimate's departure marks the end of a nearly two-year stint with Liquid's active roster, making him the second-longest tenured player on the team behind Keith 'NAF' Markovic. His time with the organization outlasted notable names like oSee, Grim, Hiko, and adreN, falling just one day short of matching legendary North American AWPer Josh 'jdm64' Marzano's tenure.

The departing AWPer's performance with Liquid proved inconsistent throughout his time with the squad. While he showed promise early on with a solid 1.11 rating across 43 maps during his initial months, his form deteriorated significantly afterward, managing only a 1.01 rating over the following 288 maps. His struggles became particularly evident against elite opposition, where he posted a disappointing 0.89 rating across 64 encounters with top five teams.

Jorko arrives with the weight of high expectations, tasked not only with stabilizing the AWP role but also helping Liquid end a prolonged trophy drought approaching seven years. The young Bulgarian brings a 1.07 rating over 109 maps, though against somewhat weaker competition. His early-career status means Liquid's development system will be crucial in avoiding the performance decline that has plagued previous young additions to the roster.

The organization is anticipated to make one additional roster move, replacing Kamil 'siuhy' Szkaradek with Johnny 'JT' Theodosiou from Passion UA.
