Legacy defeats MIBR 2-0 to secure final Esports World Cup playoff berth

August 17, 20261 min read

Legacy have secured the final spot in the Esports World Cup top 16 after defeating fellow South American squad MIBR in a 2-0 series. Despite MIBR mounting comebacks on both maps, Legacy maintained control throughout the match.

The series opener on Nuke saw Legacy establish dominance early with a commanding CT-side performance. They exploited MIBR's predictable strategy that focused heavily on Upper bombsite attacks, building a comfortable 9-3 advantage heading into halftime.

After switching sides, MIBR's defense initially showed promise as Legacy struggled to find their individual rhythm and couldn't break through their default setups. However, Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer spearheaded a forceful push through Hut into the A site, and Legacy adopted a more aggressive direct approach to close out the map.

On Inferno, MIBR's sole bright spot came from winning the CT pistol round, as they struggled throughout the opening half. Legacy completely dominated both individually and tactically, once again establishing a significant lead by the break.

MIBR attempted another second-half resurgence, aided by Legacy's aggressive force-buying that hurt their economy. Nevertheless, Legacy regained their composure and comfortably finished the map and series to claim their playoff position.
