3DMAX made an unconventional roster move this offseason by bringing in former GamerLegion AWPer Jeremy "Kursy" Gast to replace Pierre "Ex3rcice" Bulinge. The twist? The 24-year-old wouldn't be wielding the Big Green for his new squad.
Instead, Kursy stepped into an entirely fresh rifling position, marking a significant shift in his professional career. "I need to understand it more, it's not finished, and I have a lot of progress to do," the player acknowledged, though he emphasized feeling more confident with rifles than the AWP.
After nearly a year away from competitive play, Kursy was eager to return. "I wanted to play every time. It was something that I was thinking about all the time," he explained. The Frenchman jumped straight into four tournaments with minimal preparation time, making the adjustment particularly challenging.
Regarding his weapon switch, Kursy revealed that rifles always felt more natural to him. His GamerLegion experience didn't showcase his best form, and when 3DMAX offered him a rifling spot, he didn't hesitate. The language barrier and different playstyle at his previous international team created difficulties he couldn't overcome in the limited time available.
Being back in a French-speaking environment has proven beneficial for his development. "If I was in an international team, I don't think I would progress like this," Kursy noted, crediting the shared culture for easing his role transition.
Despite acknowledging inconsistency in his recent performances, Kursy remains optimistic. With 3DMAX reaching the BLAST Bounty playoffs, he's focused on continuous improvement and giving maximum effort regardless of the opponent.
"It's not about who we're playing, it's about us," Kursy stated ahead of their upcoming playoff match.
