Team Vitality has officially confirmed that former Natus Vincere player Justinas "jL" Lekavičius will join their roster as a temporary replacement for two upcoming tournaments.
The Lithuanian rifler, who previously won a Major MVP award, revealed the news during his personal stream. He humorously remarked about finally being able to acknowledge playing alongside ZywOo, ropz, mezii, apEX, flameZ, and head coach Rémy "XTQZZZ" Quoniam.
According to available information, jL will first substitute for mezii at BLAST Open Porto before taking on a different role at PGL Masters Bucharest, where he'll cover for in-game leader apEX. Both regular players are stepping away for personal reasons related to upcoming family additions.
This isn't jL's debut as a high-level substitute. During his time on NaVi's bench, he filled in for Team Liquid at the Roman Imperium Cup VI. More notably, he represented MOUZ at PGL Astana 2026 and CS Asia Championship 2026, helping them secure third-place finishes at both events.
Vitality's recent performance has been concerning. After winning BLAST Rivals Spring 2026, they've struggled significantly, placing fifth-sixth at IEM Atlanta 2026 and exiting the Cologne Major in fifth-eighth position. Their lowest point came at the BLAST Bounty Summer 2026 Closed Qualifier, where an unexpected defeat to Team Liquid resulted in seventeenth-thirty-second placement.
This marked Vitality's first finish outside the top eight since IEM Katowice 2024, ending an impressive 911-day streak. The organization now hopes jL's proven reliability as a substitute can help stabilize their performance during this transitional period.
