NRG began their StarLadder StarSeries Fall campaign with an impressive 2-1 victory over MOUZ in the tournament's opening match, collecting 129 VRS points that significantly strengthen their position in the race toward Major qualification.
Michael "Grim" Wince expressed satisfaction with the result while maintaining a grounded perspective. He emphasized that despite the significant victory, the team cannot afford complacency and must continue working hard to defeat other opponents.
Discussing the match details, Grim highlighted that the substantial VRS points gained dramatically improve their Major qualification chances. He noted MOUZ currently sits at second place in VRS rankings, making this victory particularly valuable. The team's strong practice performance gave them confidence going into the match.
Regarding their Inferno performance, Grim acknowledged the map presented unexpected challenges. NRG had dominated Inferno in North American scrims throughout the previous month without losing a single match. However, facing top European teams revealed areas needing improvement, prompting a review of their approach against elite competition on that map.
On Dust2, Grim admitted the team should have secured a more commanding lead. They dropped multiple close one-versus-one situations in the opening half that could have resulted in an 11-1 scoreline instead. Despite some nervous moments, including MOUZ winning a force-buy round with primarily Glocks and one Galil, the team maintained composure and belief in their superiority.
Grim also spoke positively about reuniting with hallzerk, praising his former Complexity teammate's energy and positive attitude. He believes hallzerk can elevate NRG to new levels, with the MOUZ victory validating that assessment after initial struggles at the EWC Open Qualifier.
Looking forward, Grim stressed a game-by-game approach, noting that defeating the second-ranked VRS team proves they can compete with anyone at the tournament.
