French esports organization Gentle Mates has confirmed their departure from the Counter-Strike scene, ending their support for the Spanish lineup they acquired earlier this year.
The Spanish squad joined Gentle Mates in 2025 and battled through the tier-two competitive circuit, aiming to qualify for IEM Cologne. They achieved a respectable position in the VRS rankings during the early season but ultimately missed their Major opportunity following a period of inactivity and disappointing performances at key tournaments.
Under the Gentle Mates banner, the roster secured several notable achievements, including a championship victory at IstanbuLAN. They also reached runner-up finishes at Radio Popular Roman Imperium Cup II, Roman Imperium Cup V, and LORGAR RANKINGS Season 1. Additional top-four placements came at Perfect World CS Challenge Series 2, StarLadder StarSeries Fall, and Roman Imperium Cup III.
Despite these successes, the team struggled to perform at premier events, exiting in the group stages at PGL Astana, IEM Rio, ESL Pro League, and PGL Bucharest.
Following Antonio Martinez's departure to HEROIC during the break, the squad has brought in Joey Steusel as a stand-in player and Daniel Narancic in a coaching capacity. Former in-game leader Eloy Suarez recently declared himself a free agent.
The roster has now reverted to the Iberian Soul tag and is competing in the Esports World Cup open qualifier, which is being held on LAN. Their current lineup features Alejandro Masanet, Alejandro Fernandez-Quejo Cano, Pere Solsona Saumell, David Granado Bermudo, and stand-in Joey Steusel.
