GameSquare Holdings Posts $28.2M Loss in H1 2026 Amid Crypto Investment Collapse

August 15, 20262 min read

GameSquare Holdings, the organization behind FaZe Esports, has disclosed troubling financial results for the first half of 2026, reporting a total net loss of $28.2 million. The company announced these figures on August 10th, with the second quarter alone accounting for $10.6 million in losses.

Despite aggressive efforts to boost performance, GameSquare faces substantial headwinds. The company did manage to generate $33.0 million in revenue during the first six months of 2026, marking a remarkable 117% increase compared to the $15.2 million earned during the same period in 2025.

However, the revenue gains were overshadowed by catastrophic cryptocurrency losses. Financial documents reveal that GameSquare lost $22.4 million from investments in Ethereum and various digital assets including memecoins. This disastrous outcome reflects the broader crypto market downturn, with Ethereum plummeting 60.4% over the past year, Bitcoin dropping 49%, and Dogecoin collapsing by 72.3%.

Even excluding the crypto disaster, GameSquare's core operations still recorded a $5.8 million net loss that management is working to address.

Adding to the company's challenges, GameSquare faces potential delisting from NASDAQ. Their stock has traded below the required $1.00 minimum for nearly a year, currently sitting at $0.41. Shareholders recently approved a reverse stock split strategy to regain compliance by combining multiple shares to artificially boost the stock price while maintaining investor ownership proportions.

GameSquare has until September 7th, 2026 to meet NASDAQ requirements, with the reverse split expected to proceed within days.
