G2 have secured their place in the Super Bock Arena playoffs at BLAST Open Porto after defeating Aurora 2-1 in a thrilling lower final rematch.
The two teams had previously met on day one, where G2 swept Aurora 2-0 behind a stellar performance from Artem "r1nkle" Moroz. This encounter proved far more challenging for the favorites.
G2 struggled on the opening map Anubis, managing only three terrorist rounds as Aurora dominated. The momentum continued into Inferno, where despite G2's strong 6-0 opening, Aurora stormed back into contention. Özgür "woxic" Eker delivered consecutive quad-kills that pushed his team to the brink of victory, holding two match points.
The tide turned dramatically when Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş failed to eliminate Guy "NertZ" Iluz in Banana. NertZ capitalized with a crucial 3k spray down on XANTARES' teammates. Though Aurora briefly regained hope after NertZ fell to a Glock in an unusual sequence, G2 fought back to force overtime and began displaying their championship form. After double overtime, the series moved to Mirage.
The decider map was completely one-sided. Aurora won only the opening pistol round before G2 unleashed an unstoppable 13-round streak. Aurora's morale collapsed as they failed to convert a 4v1 situation against r1nkle, then lost another advantageous position to a flanking NertZ. These critical mistakes sealed their fate as G2 closed out the map 13-1, securing their playoff berth in dominant fashion.
