Turkish esports organization FUT is reportedly close to securing the services of Álvaro "SunPayus" García, currently on G2's inactive roster, according to informed sources. The Spanish AWPer will assume primary sniping responsibilities, replacing Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov who has faced performance challenges throughout 2026.
SunPayus has been sidelined since June when G2 moved him to the bench, ultimately bringing in Artem "r1nkle" Moroz as his replacement. His addition brings significant competitive experience to FUT's youthful lineup and offers enhanced tactical versatility, as the Spaniard can contribute secondary in-game leadership.
FUT explored multiple AWPing candidates before settling on SunPayus. The organization trialed Henrich "sl3nd" Hevesi and considered Alan "flayy" Krupa among other possibilities.
cmtry emerged from Natus Vincere's development pipeline, progressing through NAVI Youth and NAVI Junior before the roster core transferred to FUT in August 2025. He captured his debut MVP recognition in April 2026 after guiding FUT to victory at PGL Bucharest with an impressive 1.24 rating. However, that performance marked a rare highlight in an otherwise challenging 2026 campaign, as he managed only a 1.00 LAN rating throughout the year.
This marks FUT's second roster move since entering Counter-Strike. Previously, in July, they acquired Yasin "xfl0ud" Koç from HEROIC to replace Laurențiu "lauNX" Țârlea, who remains benched.
The 27-year-old Spanish player is anticipated to debut for FUT at PGL Masters Bucharest, scheduled for October 24-31.
