The Brazilian squad has captured their second Thunderpick World Championship trophy in a row. On Sunday, October 18, they defeated BETBOOM in a nail-biting 3-2 grand final held in Malta, claiming their opening Counter-Strike 2 silverware of 2026. The championship run netted them $500,000 in combined prize money distributed between the roster and the organization.
The path to victory required a dramatic comeback in the best-of-five series. Despite winning the opening map, the Brazilians dropped the following two maps and faced elimination. They rallied to secure two consecutive map victories to clinch the title. Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo proved instrumental in the comeback, especially during the Mirage match where his team nearly surrendered a dominant advantage.
This triumph mirrors their 2025 achievement when they overcame NAVI 3-2 in the grand final. This year's championship campaign was even more impressive, as they completed the tournament without dropping a single series.
The grand final opened with a dominant 13-6 performance on Dust2, with the Brazilians controlling the economy throughout. However, BETBOOM responded on Ancient, their map selection, fighting back from match point to force overtime and ultimately prevailing 19-16. The Russian squad then captured Nuke 13-9, putting the Brazilians in a 2-1 hole.
The turnaround began on Mirage. Starting as counter-terrorists, the Brazilian side established a commanding 10-2 lead at halftime and extended it further. BETBOOM mounted an impressive comeback, winning multiple rounds despite numerical disadvantages and equalizing at 11-11.
FalleN delivered a game-changing play, helping his squad win a critical two-versus-four clutch that restored their lead and sealed Mirage 13-11.
With the series level at 2-2, Cache determined the championship. The Brazilians dominated the terrorist side early, building an 8-4 halftime advantage and maintaining control after the side switch. They closed out the map 13-6 to secure their second consecutive title.
Their tournament run began with a 2-0 victory over BETBOOM in the group stage, followed by a 2-1 triumph against Legacy to top Group B. In the playoffs, they swept Aurora 2-0 in the semifinals. BETBOOM earned their finals rematch by defeating Falcons 2-1.
The tournament ran from October 14 to 18 in Malta, featuring eight teams competing for a $1 million prize pool.
