FOKUS have pulled off a major upset by defeating Aurora in the initial round of BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2's online stage, closing out the series with a dominant 13-4 performance on Dust2 following a map split on Cache (13-11) and Nuke (7-13).
This outcome represents Aurora's inaugural setback with their newly formed international lineup, which had previously secured wins against K27 and Nemesis during the StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 Europe Closed Qualifier. The defeat also dashes their hopes of competing at their debut LAN tournament together in Malta.
Meanwhile, FOKUS rebounded from an earlier 1-2 defeat against Astralis in the same qualifier, earning their first victory with new additions Paavo "podi" Heiskanen and Jacob "jocab" Nerheden, keeping their bracket run alive.
The opening map Cache saw Aurora jump to a quick 5-0 lead on their CT side, but FOKUS responded with six consecutive rounds to level the playing field. Jocab proved instrumental in the closing stages, securing crucial kills in clutch situations, including a pivotal 3v3 conversion at 11-11. Mateo "Matheos" Prišlin delivered back-to-back opening frags to seal the 13-11 map win.
Nuke tilted heavily in Aurora's favor as the Turkish duo of XANTARES (1.55 rating) and Ali "Wicadia" Haydar Yalçın (1.45 rating) dominated proceedings. After a balanced 6-6 first half, Aurora overwhelmed on defense, surrendering just a single round to force the decider 13-7.
The final map Dust2 belonged entirely to FOKUS, who stormed to a 7-0 advantage featuring a clutch smoke defuse by podi in a 1v2. They reached double digits before halftime and never looked back, ultimately closing out 13-4 to secure the series victory.
