Team Liquid has confirmed that their head coach Viktor "flashie" Tamás Bea will be absent for the opening stages of Logitech G Play as he attends his sister's wedding. Stepping into the coaching position will be data analyst Jay "DeMars DeRover" Li.
This marks the second roster adjustment for Liquid heading into the Polish LAN event. The organization previously announced that Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa cannot participate due to personal matters, with Serbian player Vladan "VLDN" Radević joining as a substitute.
DeMars DeRover brings coaching experience to the role, having previously served as Liquid's interim head coach between March and July 2025 following the departure of Torbjørn "mithR" Nyborg. His previous tenure saw varied performances, including a disappointing 0-3 elimination at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, where the team finished 15th-16th in Stage Three.
The current Liquid roster bears little resemblance to the squad DeMars DeRover previously coached, with Keith "NAF" Markovic being the only holdover from that era. Should the team advance past the group stage, flashie is expected to rejoin the squad for the playoff rounds beginning September 19th.
Liquid's tournament campaign launches tomorrow at 05:00 AM with a match against INFINITE, fielding NAF, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, Georgi "Jorko" Mitev, Johnny "JT" Theodosiou, and stand-in VLDN under DeMars DeRover's temporary guidance.
