FACEIT has officially wrapped up its experimental halftime all-chat feature in matchmaking. The trial period started alongside Season 9 on August 5th and concluded on August 12th.
Prior to rolling out the feature, the platform made clear their intention to examine reports and toxicity metrics before deciding whether to make halftime voice chat a permanent fixture. True to their word, FACEIT is currently analyzing match data to determine the future of this controversial addition.
The experiment generated memorable reactions from the professional community. During a broadcast, Tarik Celik, champion of the ELEAGUE Boston Major, witnessed a heated shouting exchange between opposing teams at halftime. His verdict was straightforward: the feature should be disabled.
Swedish legend and Major winner Olof Kajbjer expressed similar concerns from a content creator's perspective. He described the feature as risky for streaming, pointing to the unpredictable nature of what players might say during the side switch.
FACEIT will now review collected data before announcing their final decision on whether halftime communication between teams will become a standard matchmaking feature or be permanently removed.
