The Accor Arena previously hosted the final CS:GO Major tournament back in 2023, closing out an entire decade of the game's competitive legacy. Now the French squad has another chance to make history on the same stage, this time competing for the Club Championship title before their home fans.
This year's EWC Counter-Strike 2 tournament is expanding significantly, featuring 32 teams competing over two weeks. The format starts with a double elimination group stage before cutting down to 16 teams for single elimination playoffs. Twenty-eight slots go to the world's top ranked teams based on Valve Regional Standings, while the remaining four spots will be determined through a 128-team open qualifier scheduled for August 7-9 in Paris.
Teams are competing for a $2 million prize pool, matching the largest in CS2 history. However, for organizations like Team Falcons, Team Vitality, and Natus Vincere, the Club Championship race might be the bigger prize. Falcons enter as reigning Major champions but have struggled in this year's Club Championship standings after a third-place finish last year gave them a narrow lead.
The complete Esports World Cup 2026 runs from July 6 through August 23 in Paris, featuring over 2,000 players and 200 clubs from more than 100 countries competing across 24 games and 25 tournaments for a record-breaking prize pool exceeding $75 million.
