September 14, 20261 min read

The Esports World Cup has revealed crucial information about its Counter-Strike 2 tournaments scheduled for 2027 and 2028 in Saudi Arabia.

The 2027 competition is scheduled to run from July 20 through August 1, maintaining the expanded format introduced this year. The main tournament will feature 32 competing teams battling for a $2 million prize pool.

A massive open qualifier will precede the main event, taking place July 16-18 at Riyadh's Esports Boulevard. This qualifier will grant four teams entry into the primary competition.

The slot allocation for the 2027 tournament breaks down as follows: 20 teams will receive Global VRS invitations, while two spots each are reserved for North American, South American, and Asian VRS invites. Additionally, two wildcard invitations will be distributed, alongside the four qualifier spots.

Regarding the 2028 edition, organizers have provided limited information thus far. The tournament is tentatively planned for July 14-30, with comprehensive details to be released at a future date.

This announcement provides teams and fans with advance notice to prepare for these major Counter-Strike 2 events in the coming years.
