Following their upper finals loss to Voca in ESL Challenger League Season 52 Cup 1, Marsborne made the most of their lower bracket opportunity by decisively defeating Overtake Sector. The victory sets up a championship rematch between the two upper finalists, with a spot in December's Regional Final on the line.
The series opened on Dust2, Overtake Sector's map selection, where they established a 7-5 advantage at halftime. However, Marsborne's offensive side proved unstoppable in the second half. Chance 'WUMBO' Boyer led a devastating 11-1 attacking run that propelled his team to a 13-8 map win and series advantage.
Marsborne carried their momentum into Inferno, where their terrorist side continued its dominant performance. They built an overwhelming 10-2 lead before Overtake Sector could mount any resistance. Despite winning the second pistol round and stringing together several rounds while Marsborne sat at match point, Overtake Sector's comeback attempt ultimately fell short. WUMBO and Bogdan "ogwizard" Savula delivered a perfect final round to close out the series, limiting the comeback to just nine rounds total.
The Cup 1 championship match between Voca and Marsborne is scheduled for today, with both teams vying for the Regional Final qualification.
