Counter-Strike 2 has launched Season 5 with game-changing updates that reshape how players experience competitive matches.
Cache officially joins the active duty map pool, taking Overpass's place. Players can now test their strategies and climb Premier ranks on this reimagined battlefield that's ready for action.
The most dramatic change comes to bomb mechanics. Developers have completely overhauled how explosive damage works in CS2. When the C4 detonates, a shockwave now flows dynamically through the map from the bombsite. Players caught in the immediate blast zone still face instant elimination, but the explosion behaves more realistically—the shockwave weakens around corners and can't penetrate walls. This means survival becomes possible at certain distances if you position yourself smartly. For those uncertain about their safety, the health bar now displays a preview showing how much damage you'll take from the incoming blast.
The Armory welcomes fresh content following a recent community call to action. Two new weapon collections have arrived: Arabesque and Spy Tech, both featuring community-designed skins. Additionally, sticker enthusiasts can explore two new collections—Fruits & Vegetables and Auto Racing—all available now through the Armory.
Community mappers also get recognition this season. Boulder, Fachwerk, and Shelter expand options across Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes. Wingman players gain access to Debris and El Dorado for fast-paced two-versus-two action.
Beyond the headline features, this update includes various bug fixes, map adjustments, and scoreboard performance improvements that let players check statistics without lag. Full technical details are available in the official release notes.
