CS2 July 8 Update: Bomb Blast Overhaul and Fresh Armory Collections

July 9, 20262 min read

Valve has rolled out a major update for Counter-Strike 2, kicking off Premier Season 5 with significant gameplay changes and fresh cosmetic content.

The headline feature is a complete redesign of the bomb explosion mechanics. Instead of instant damage application, the blast now spreads outward rapidly from the bomb's position. This fundamental shift means positioning matters more than ever—corners will reduce the explosion's impact, while solid walls almost completely block the shockwave. Players will also see a helpful indicator showing predicted HP loss just before detonation.

The Active Duty map pool has been refreshed with Cache making its return while Overpass exits the competitive rotation. This shuffle gives the professional scene and ranked players new strategic terrain to master.

Armory enthusiasts have plenty to celebrate with two weapon collections joining the lineup: Arabesque and Spy Tech. Both emerged from the recent Call to Arms community initiative. Sticker collectors can also grab designs from the Fruits & Vegetables and Auto Racing collections.

To make room for the newcomers, older collections are cycling out. Train 2025 and Sport & Field weapon skins are no longer available, along with Sugarface 2 and Elemental Craft stickers.

The update also addresses a technical issue where players couldn't properly pick up dropped weapons through the Buy Menu. With these changes, Season 5 promises a fresh tactical landscape and vibrant new cosmetics for the CS2 community.
