Valve has reintroduced a beloved feature from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in their latest CS2 update released on Tuesday, September 22. Players can now display Clan Tags next to their in-game names once again, marking the return of a community favorite that allows teams and friend groups to showcase their affiliation.
To enable a Clan Tag, players must join a Steam Community Group and then select their desired tag through the Player Profile section within Counter-Strike 2. This simple process brings back the identity and camaraderie that many players enjoyed in the previous iteration of the game.
The update's most significant gameplay addition is the silent reload mechanic. Instead of tapping the reload button as usual, players can now press and hold it to reload their weapon without producing any sound. This tactical option comes with a deliberate drawback—silent reloads take noticeably longer than standard reloads, creating a strategic choice between stealth and speed. Additionally, unscoping scoped weapons no longer produces audio cues, removing another potential giveaway of player positioning.
Valve has also enhanced visual quality throughout the game, with improved bullet impact decals offering better fidelity. The grenade purchase system now enforces the total grenade limit during rounds, and players can customize their C4 with stickers for the first time. A new music kit called Starjunk 95, Industrial Sunset Memories is available in both standard and StatTrak versions, and music volume can now be adjusted individually for each game mode.
Other notable changes include refined halftime scoreboard statistics, a fix preventing players from circumventing kick penalties, and an amusing addition—chickens can now be eliminated with the Zeus x27. The update also features adjustments to Premier Map Selection, crosshair options, and introduces a new game mode called Rush.
