Aurora have punched their ticket to the Esports World Cup playoffs with an emphatic victory over JiJieHao in what turned out to be a thoroughly one-sided matchup.
The defeat marks the end of Dionis "sinnopsyy" Budeci's team's tournament journey. While they had shown promise with their stunning best-of-one upset against Spirit earlier, JiJieHao couldn't maintain that momentum. They managed to average a mere five rounds per map in their subsequent matches against both GamerLegion and Aurora.
Reflecting on the tournament, JiJieHao coach Torbjørn "mithR" Nyborg shared his thoughts: "We came to Paris just hoping to make it through the LCQ. Making a good result at the LCQ would have been enough. Then we go to the main tournament, we get an upset against Spirit. We played so well in that game, everyone was trading each other. I don't know what happened exactly."
He continued: "We'll need to look at it. We need to be proud that we made it to the main tournament. There are some important lessons here. While we're not ready for tier-1, there are definitely things that we can take away from this to improve even more for the next ones."
On Mirage, JiJieHao's map selection, they claimed both pistol rounds but couldn't capitalize further. Aurora's firepower proved too much to handle as the Turkish-majority roster rolled to a 13-6 finish.
The second map, Anubis, saw Aurora continue their dominance. JiJieHao struggled in mid-round scenarios during the opening half and couldn't build any momentum on the T-side, heading into halftime down by six rounds. A crucial pistol round loss to a perfectly-timed molotov sealed their fate. They managed just a single round on the CT side before Aurora closed out the series, with Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş delivering a quad-kill to end the game.
