Aurora have booked their spot in the StarLadder StarSeries Fall grand final following a decisive 2-1 victory over Vitality in the upper bracket final, taking the series 13-7 on Anubis, falling 11-13 on Inferno, and closing out 13-8 on Nuke.
This marks the inaugural final appearance for Aurora's restructured lineup featuring Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski, Jimi "Jimpphat" Salo, and Ashley "ash" Battye, competing in just their fifth tournament together. The Macedonian captain expressed satisfaction with toppling their most prestigious opponent to date.
The manner of victory was particularly impressive, with Aurora demonstrating exceptional defensive coordination while shutting down Vitality's comeback attempts, signaling the roster's growing chemistry.
Vitality looked completely off their game, a stark contrast to their strong performance against FURIA earlier in the week. Their team coordination broke down repeatedly throughout the series, with their attacking side proving virtually nonexistent. They managed zero terrorist rounds on Anubis, a mere two on Nuke, and just four on Inferno, relying almost entirely on their defensive efforts to stay competitive.
The French squad now faces a brutal championship Sunday, needing to win both a best-of-three consolidation final and immediately follow with a best-of-five rematch against Aurora for any chance at the trophy.
Aurora showcased their Anubis prowess once more, rallying from a 1-5 deficit after Jimpphat's crucial 1v2 clutch sparked momentum. The Turkish-majority squad capitalized on Vitality's poor trading with precise aim and measured default setups to level the score, though Vitality grabbed the final two rounds to maintain a narrow halftime advantage.
However, Vitality's attacking side completely disintegrated in the second half. Aurora dominated nearly every initial engagement as Vitality failed to register even a single round, resulting in a 13-7 blowout with Jimpphat posting an exceptional 2.48 CT-side rating.
Inferno started similarly, with Vitality securing just one elimination across the opening four rounds. Despite briefly finding two rounds, they went kill-less in the subsequent pair as Aurora surged to a 7-2 lead. Ali "Wicadia" Haydar Yalçın's outstanding quad-kill B-site hold further exposed Vitality's trading deficiencies, with the half concluding 8-4.
Vitality finally discovered their rhythm in the series' fourth half, employing better coordination and setups alongside devastating HE grenade barrages that repeatedly disrupted Aurora's economy, fueling a seven-round streak that secured a 13-11 map win.
Starting CT-side on the Nuke decider seemed advantageous for Vitality, but they struggled converting late-round situations early. Despite Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut's 1v2 clutch providing brief relief, they faced a 2-5 deficit. The French star continued delivering multi-kills and another 1v2 to equalize by halftime.
Capturing the terrorist pistol should have provided breathing space, but Vitality collapsed against Aurora's subsequent force-buy. Jimpphat and Wicadia then anchored a near-complete defensive lockdown as Vitality's attacking struggles persisted, managing only one round via Robin "ropz" Kool's double smoke spray before Aurora closed out the series.
