On September 17th, team captain Shawn "Zhenn" Knapp revealed his squad had separated from AURA organization following what he described as an internal payment conflict with Matthew "Warden" Dickens, previously coach of BLUEJAYS. While the initial announcement lacked specifics, the situation proved significant enough to end the partnership between the ESEA Main roster and the organization they'd represented throughout the year.
Dust2.us investigated both sides of the story and discovered the core issue centered on compensation disagreements for coaching work. Zhenn had been personally funding Warden's coaching services with substantial out-of-pocket payments, seeking to benefit from Warden's extensive background coaching elite North American teams.
According to Zhenn, the initial two months brought disappointing results in terms of coaching quality and session regularity. Despite these concerns, the team chose to retain Warden for August. However, they withheld the final half-month payment, claiming Warden provided minimal coaching during their preparation for and participation in FRAG Midwest: St. Louis.
Tensions escalated as Zhenn had verbally committed to August compensation. Although AURA wasn't involved in the original agreement, Warden approached the organization seeking resolution. AURA paid Warden to prevent further controversy.
Following this intervention, the organization terminated its relationship with the roster, apparently viewing the payment controversy as damaging to their reputation, turning what should have been the players' private matter into organizational baggage.
With the situation resolved and all parties reasonably satisfied, the former AURA lineup now searches for new organizational representation heading into Season 59.
The roster consists of Shawn "Zhenn" Knapp, "KeWOZe", Mitchell "shoosT" Youssef, "Margod", and "Xtasyyy".
