Finnish authorities have formally requested a four-month suspended prison sentence for Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen, the 29-year-old captain of Natus Vincere in Counter-Strike 2. The charge centers on aggravated tax fraud allegations related to undeclared income exceeding €53,000.
The case was presented at the Eastern Uusimaa District Court during a hearing on Friday, October 16, according to Finnish newspaper Iltalehti. Prosecutors claim the omission resulted in more than €28,000 in unpaid taxes. No verdict has been issued yet, and the request remains subject to court approval.
The disputed income allegedly originated from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive sticker sales during 2019, when Aleksib was competing for ENCE. These in-game items are sold by Valve during Major tournaments and generate revenue for participating players and organizations. Prosecutors allege that Aleksib failed to amend his pre-filled 2019 tax return to include these earnings. The alleged offense occurred between May 19 and September 22, 2020, in Vantaa, after Aleksib had moved to OG.
According to prosecutors, the deliberate nature of the omission justifies the aggravated fraud classification, as it was intended to secure substantial financial gain.
Aleksib's defense acknowledges the payments were not included in his tax filing but contests any deliberate wrongdoing. His legal team argues that at age 22, he believed his tax obligations were fulfilled through withholdings from his regular salary and was unaware that sticker revenue required separate reporting.
The case became public knowledge in March 2026. The court is expected to deliver a verdict following the October hearing, though no specific date has been announced. A suspended sentence would not require immediate incarceration if legal conditions are met.
