The MongolZ have crashed out of FISSURE Playground 3 after suffering a decisive defeat to fellow Mongolian team 5star in Suzhou, China. The elimination leaves them in joint-last place following their second loss at the tournament.
This marks a stunning upset for a squad that has reigned as Mongolia's undisputed number one team for more than three years. Domestic LAN clashes have been uncommon during this period, as Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren and his roster have primarily competed at the highest tier of competition. In their previous four encounters with other Mongolian teams, they had maintained a perfect record.
The defeat comes amid a turbulent phase for The MongolZ. Following the departures of Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold and Ayush "mzinho" Batbold, the organization made a roster change aimed at bolstering their offensive capabilities. Sodbayar "Techno" Munkhbold was replaced by Anarbileg "cobrazera" Uuganbayar for the Chinese event.
While cobrazera delivered respectable individual performance with a 1.34 rating in his comeback appearance, the team's newer additions struggled to find their footing. Dugarsuren "DarkMeister" Ireedui and Zolbayar "tikuak" Chimedtseren failed to provide adequate support as The MongolZ fell in an overtime thriller against MIBR before succumbing to a straight-sets defeat to 5star.
