Coming into BLAST Bounty Season 2 ranked as the 31st seed, 100 Thieves faced limited choices when picking their first-round opponent. Between Spirit and Falcons, they selected Falcons for Jack "Gizmy" von Spreckelsen's inaugural tier-one match as the team's new in-game leader.
In a stunning result, 100 Thieves defeated the super team with veteran Håvard "rain" Nygaard delivering an exceptional performance.
The match opened on Nuke, 100 Thieves' map pick, but Falcons dominated early with a 5-0 lead. Despite managing two rounds on their terrorist side, 100 Thieves entered halftime trailing 10-2. Falcons secured the second-half pistol and follow-up rounds before closing out a comfortable 13-4 win.
Falcons chose Dust2 next and again started strong with pistol victories. However, 100 Thieves responded impressively, mounting an 8-1 streak to establish an 8-4 halftime advantage. Although Falcons won their fourth consecutive pistol round, 100 Thieves maintained control on their terrorist side, securing the map 13-7.
The decider on Anubis saw Falcons race to a seven-round lead before 100 Thieves registered their first point. Though they managed a brief response, 100 Thieves still trailed 3-9 at halftime. Everything changed in the second half as 100 Thieves finally captured a pistol round and launched an incredible comeback. They strung together nine consecutive rounds to reach match point before Falcons could respond. A crucial clutch from William "sirah" Kjærsgaard sealed the 13-11 victory.
100 Thieves advance to the round of 16, with their next match scheduled for Saturday, July 25th.
