100 Thieves have punched their ticket to the EWC group stage after defeating 1win in the qualifying rounds. This marks a historic moment for the organization, as it will be their first appearance at a Tier 1 event since making their return to the Counter-Strike scene early in 2024.
The opening map on Ancient proved to be a nail-biter. 100 Thieves claimed both pistol rounds, yet the match remained intensely competitive with each squad managing eight rounds on their CT side. The deadlock pushed the contest into overtime, where William "sirah" Kjærsgaard delivered the final two eliminations at 15-14 to give his team the series advantage.
Anubis, selected by 100 Thieves, told a different story. Despite dropping the opening pistol, the squad dominated with a commanding 9-3 lead by halftime. The team's in-game leader Gizmy put on a spectacular performance in round 18, delivering both a four-kill round and a critical 1v2 clutch to reach match point. He closed out the 13-6 victory with an impressive 19-10 scoreline and a 1.58 rating. Alex "poiii" Nyholm Sundgren also shined throughout the series, leading with a 1.31 rating.
The EWC group stage is scheduled to kick off on August 12th. Following this victory, 100 Thieves have climbed to the 31st position in the VRS standings, adding 33 valuable points to their tally.
